Across 19 hospitals of Thai children with drug-resistant epilepsy, CBD oil caused consistent improvements in seizures over the course of a year
Adjunctive CBD-Enriched Cannabis Oil for Pediatric Drug-Resistant Epilepsy in Thailand
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0887899425001110
“Most seizure types responded positively to treatment, except for complex motor seizures. The effective CBD dose varied within a range of 1-15 mg/kg/day. Adverse events were reported in 92% of patients, predominantly mild (95%) and including somnolence, increased liver enzymes, anorexia, and irritability. Thirty-three patients discontinued CBD, with 57% due to intolerable adverse events, 30% ineffectiveness, and 12% non-compliance.”
In caregiver reports of severe pediatric epilepsy, the majority said CBD improved seizure frequency & severity as well as alertness, cognition & executive function with 94% planning to continue CBD treatment, though 26% reported worsening in one or more aspects of the patient burden

Clinicians’ Perspectives on Cannabis Use and Cannabis Treatment in Clients Undertaking Opioid Dependence Treatment
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40325937/
“Participants estimated 56.1% (±23.9) of OTP clients had used cannabis in the past month, and 44.9% (±6.5) had cannabis dependence. Clinicians indicated (15.3% ± 17.2%) clients identified problematic cannabis use and (10.7% ± 16.9) sought treatment in the past year. The harms most frequently identified by staff were cannabis dependence (46.5% ± 27.9%), financial issues (37.5% ± 29.2%) and increased tobacco use (33.1% ± 28.2%). The benefits most frequently identified were management of sleep problems (49.7% ± 27.8%), chronic pain symptoms (35.6% ± 24.3%) and improvements in mental health (48.3% ± 25.6%).”

Elucidating the Transcriptomic Response of mHypoA-2/12 Neurons to Cannabidiol

“The obtained results showed that CBD enhanced cell viability, especially after 24 h of treatment and at lower or intermediate concentrations, and reduced apoptosis, with significant effects at the highest concentration. CBD caused moderate transcriptome profile changes (13 to 69 genes per treatment), with more genes affected at higher concentrations and shorter exposure times, indicating a stronger initial cellular response. Further analysis revealed that CBD affects several biological processes, including: intrinsic apoptosis suppression via p53 modulation, impacting genes like Bbc3, Mdm2, Cdkn1a, and Smad3. Additionally, CBD influenced genes involved in extracellular matrix organization, including metalloproteinases (Mmp-3, Mmp-13) and their inhibitors (Timp1), as well as collagen components (Col11a1) and mitochondrial respiratory chain complexes (mt-Nd5, mt-Nd4). Genes related to serotonin and dopamine biosynthesis, as well as Aldh2, were also impacted, linking CBD’s effects in hypothalamic neurons to potential benefits in managing alcohol use disorders.”

PS: From blues legend & harmonica king Charlie Musselwhite, here’s his first solo album ‘Stand Back! Here Comes Charlie Musselwhite’s South Side Band’ (1966). Reportedly the inspiration for Elwood Blues in the movie "The Blues Brothers", he's one of the pivotal figures of the Chicago blues movement of the 1960s. Growing up in a family of musicians, Musselwhite was immersed in the music of Elvis, Cash & Jerry Lee Lewis while supporting himself by digging ditches, laying concrete & running moonshine. But when he went to Chicago for the big pay of the factory jobs, he started to meet the local heroes like Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, Buddy Guy, Howlin' Wolf & Little Walter as well as forming a lifelong friendship with John Lee Hooker of Detroit (Hooker was the best man at Musselwhite’s third wedding). He hung around all the record stores & blues clubs & soon was playing backup for other artists until his first solo album saw immediate success. He moved to San Francisco & became a local king of the blues, a gritty figure to the local flower children. He went on to release over 20 albums & to work with a huge number of artists, including Bonnie Raitt, the Blind Boys of Alabama, Tom Waits (he’s the voice saying “I love it” on ‘Chocolate Jesus’), Eddie Vedder, Cyndi Lauper, Ben Harper, George Thorogood, Cat Stevens & of course, John Lee Hooker. Musselwhite now has 13 Grammy nominations, 33 Blues Music Awards & was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame. And even now, at the age of 81, he’s in the middle of a US tour.
