In contrast, individuals with polydrug use showed more widespread and complex alterations in connectivity, including reduced alpha activity and increased frontal and prefrontal engagement, suggesting heightened excitation and possible compensatory mechanisms.”

Listen, I don’t like this either. A number of men on my mom’s side of the family dropped over dead from heart attacks. And I’d like to see my kids grow up. But the data is the data.
And it’s not just case series like these. You see the same thing in public health data & as well as preclinical studies of heart harms. Cannabis is not great for the heart. A lot of other things are probably worse, but cannabis is at least a moderate risk factor for decreased heart health.
Such as…

PS: For the greats of early R&B, here’s the Ravens & their album ‘Old Man River’. One of the most influential R&B groups after World War II, these 4 singers started practicing their harmony together in Harlem & scored their first hit with ‘Old Man River’ in 1947. With their growing influence, their choice of the name “The Ravens” led to a trend of Black vocal groups naming themselves after birds (including the Orioles, the Crows, the Swallows, the Swans, the Wrens, the Larks, the Robins & the Penguins). But they created music unlike any of the other male vocal groups of the time, combining the bass voice of Jimmy Ricks with their varied influences of pop, jazz & gospel styles. With 8 more Top Ten R&B songs over the next decade, they toured widely & the voice of Jimmy Ricks became the bass that all others were measured against. Their influence started to wane with the rise of rock & roll but some version of their lineup kept recording through the ‘60s.
